Nine months after the release of Nook GlowLight in the US, Barnes and Noble brings it to the United Kingdom.
The company says the GlowLight starts selling in the UK today, at various retailers, including Argos, ASDA, Blackwells, Foyles, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and Very. The price is set for £89.
It’s hard to check out the availability of the device in the store. However, Very is the only one among the B&N partners that officially should have it in the online store – as this partner list suggests. Well, it’s not there, yet.
Nook GlowLight is 15% lighter than the Kindle Paperwhite, and weights only 175g. It has a front-lighted, 6-inch display. The GlowLight feature is a next-generation lighting technology that lets read books in the dark, thanks to an evenly distributed light. The light turns on instantly and adjusts with a touch for easy control of intensity.
The battery should last up to 8 weeks on a single charge. “Equipped with twice the storage of its closest competitor”, Nook GlowLight can hold up to 2,000 books. It’s 80% more than Kindle Paperwhite.
