Some people were waiting for this to happen. Barnes & Noble and Samsung have just announced the launch of the bigger co-branded Nook tablet – the 10.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook.

Two months after the launch of Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 7.0, the new tablet joins the family of Nook devices. It has the largest screen ever offered on Nook.
The large screen Nook tablet is basically the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, with a special Nook software designed to improve content discovery and reading experience.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 10.1 has 1280×800 display (149 ppi) in WXGA technology. There is 16GB of built-in memory, but you can expand it to extra 64GB with a microSD card.
For the first time the Nook tablet has two camera (front and rear) – one of the most requested tablet features by Nook customers.
The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is available immediately in more than 650 bookstores, as well as in Barnes & Noble’s online store.
There is a black version on sale, but, just like in case of the 7-inch model, we can expect the white Nook 10.1 to come later.
The regular price is $349, but at the launch time you can buy it for $299.99, and save $50 after instant rebate. Plus, the tablet loaded with a free content from the Nook Store, worth more than $200.
Older Nook tablets are removed from the Barnes & Noble site, so there are currently only three devices officially supported:
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 7.0 – $169.99 (after $30 instant),
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 10.1 – $299.99(after $50 instant),
- Nook GlowLight – $119.
The new tablet comes together with one line of original Barnes & Noble covers in four colors: Leaf, Midnight Blue, Red, and Violet.
When it comes to hardware, the new Nook is nothing more than the 10.1 Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. Therefore, any cover that fits Samsung will fit Nook. We’ve got a large selection of covers and accessories in this overview: 50 best Samsung tablet covers.
Can we expect the 8-inch Galaxy Tab 4 Nook? Not so sure about it. A quote from Michael P. Huseby, Chief Executive Officer of Barnes & Noble, suggests we can’t:
Customers are telling us that they love the reading and entertainment experience on our new 7-inch Samsung Nook and we’re certain that the addition of the stunning 10-inch model, alongside our popular Nook GlowLight e-reader, will ensure that there’s a perfect device for everyone in the family at Barnes & Noble this holiday season and beyond.
